Established in Colchester in 1980 by Les & Jean Coverdale and now run by her daughter Nicola Garton, The Wedding Shop has built up a reputation as one of the country's leading bridal boutiques. With a multi award winning service perfected over 27 years, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere is the perfect way to choose your dress.

Size Matters

At The Wedding Shop we realise that all brides are unique, not everyone is a standard size 12. Petite girls find it very hard because with most shops every gown is too big and needs to be pinned in, and fuller girls find sample dresses too small, and for these reasons it's hard to get the real 'idea'.

The Wedding Shop has a range of samples sized 8-28, so no matter what your individual shape and size we'll have a range of dresses to fit, from this it's easier to try on dresses that don't fit and make a informed decision on what dress will suit you best, without feeling that you haven't tried on even one dress that fits properly. No wedding dress shopping experience would be complete without elastic bands and bulldog clips!
